They cannot pass without seeing a sundial that will remind them that they have entered a monastic land where different rules apply, a different than those they are used to in the noisy and busy world they come from.

The sundial was installed during the stay of a team of geographers from Belgrade preparing the monograph “Geography of Hilandar”. Below are some photos taken during fieldwork in the territory of Hilandar, which occupies about one quarter of the area of Mount Athos.
